  1. Mica Sheets: Phlogopite Mica vs. Muscovite Mica Which is better? Mica sheet is a naturally occurring mineral that comes in 37 different varieties. However, the two micas we work with are phlogopite (green) and muscovite (white). These two types of mica are available in sheet form and have two grades: MFSSP (phlogopite) and MFSSM (muscovite). Each of these two types of mica has properties that make it suitable for various applications across a wide range of industries.

  2. Phlogopite Mica and Muscovite Mica In general, phlogopite mica is softer than muscovite mica. Therefore, despite having the same excellent insulation properties as muscovite mica, phlogopite has lower electrical and chemical resistance. However, because of its flexibility, it can be used for a wide variety of insulation applications.

  3. Because of its excellent dielectric strength and low power loss, muscovite mica is the most commonly used mica in electrical and electronic devices. Although it cleaves to extremely thin sheets, it is harder and more rigid than phlogopite mica.
