  3. Monday Answers • What are the two types of expository writing? • Answer: to provide information or to give directions • 2. What types of organizational patterns are used for expository writing? • Answer: Description, sequence, comparison/ contrast, cause/effect, problem/solution • 3. Should the writer attempt to persuade with an opinion? • Answer- no! The facts with well developed support are all you need, not your opinions.

  4. Tuesday, October 16 • Expository Writing Recap • Is expository writing fiction or non-fiction? • How would an expository paragraph be structured? • If I am using information written by someone else, how do I present it without plagiarizing?

Tuesday Answers • Is expository writing fiction or non-fiction? • Answer: non-fiction • How would an expository paragraph be structured? • Answer: Just like any other well developed paragraph! • Topic Sentence- state a main idea based on fact • Body of Supporting Sentences- provide facts,, examples, or steps in a process • Concluding Sentence- summarize the main idea and add a strong ending • 3. If I am using information written by someone else, how do I present it without plagiarizing? • Answer- put the information in quotations, paraphrase, and refer to the source.
