  1. The future of a seed 3/21/10

  2. Spring is here • The days are getting longer • The sun is coming up sooner and going down later • The grass is starting to get green and lawn mowing is right around the corner • All things become new • The seeds begin to embrace their future

  3. The gift of a seed • Genesis 1:11 • Things were set in order • Grass – has no ability to reproduce life, it has one purpose, to sustain other life • Herb that yields seed – It can only reproduce life if it looses its own • Fruit bearing trees – they produce seed season over season. It is not detrimental, it is because it reproduces the seed that leads to life.

  4. A little hands on test • Take a look at the 12 different examples of seed • Write on your “pop quiz” what type of seed you think it is (some are flowers, bulbs, rhizomes, trees, don’t get too technical on me)

  5. And the answers are: • Hickory • Canna • Black Walnut • Cosmos • Avocado Tree • Spaghetti Squash • Scallion • Red Beet • Grapefruit Tree • Dutch Iris • Calendula • Mustard Flower

  6. The parable of the seed • When God first set things in motion, he established the grass, herb, fruit law • Genesis 1:26 – Then God said “Let us make man in Our image, according to our likeness” • So how does the law of grass, herb, and fruit apply to us

  7. It’s all in the way He says it And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself on the earth, and it was so. There are only two that represent God’s phrase According to our likeness. The herb and the fruit.

  8. Two key lessons we must learn • Since we are made in His likeness, we cannot reproduce life without first loosing our own • Matthew 16:24-27 • Once we’ve given Him all that we are, he places seed within us to scatter everywhere in an effort to produce new life • John 15:16

  9. The second one • None of us aced the seed test • Are we able to be experts on what type of seed we are and what we will become? • Do we have thoughts on what God could do through us? • Do those thoughts limit us on what he could do through us? • What about our thoughts of others?
