  2. Instructional Models Characterized by their task structure, goal structure, and their reward structure.

  3. Task Structure The way lessons are organized and what students are asked to do. It involves whether the teacher is working with the whole class or a small group. Also, involves the type of work students are expected to complete.

  4. Goal Structure The amount of interdependence required of students as they perform their work. Three types of goal structures: individualistic, competitive, and cooperative.

  5. Individualistic Goal Structure Requires no interaction with others.

  6. Competitive Goal Structure Students can achieve their goal if other students fail to achieve theirs.

  7. Cooperative Goal Structure Students can only achieve their goal with help from other students.

  8. Reward Structures Alsoare individualistic, competitive, and cooperative.

  9. The Students • Required to work together • Coordinate with others • Be able to work by themselves • Work in teams to master goals • Interact cross-cultural

  10. The lesson • Begins with teacher presenting the goals and motivating students • Teacher presents information • Students organize into teams • Students work together, with help of teacher, to work to accomplish tasks • Presenting group’s end products • Recognize individual and group efforts
