  2. Introduction • Audience: Any individual who has a bank account. • Purpose: To inform the audience of a correct way to write a check. • In an era of ATM check cards, online bill paying and credit cards, the art of writing a check may be lost. • Bad checks often get bounced.

  3. Instructions • You will need: • A Check-book • A Pen • Bank account information • Calculator

  4. Instructions • Step 1: • Examine your bank account • Make sure you have enough money. • Bounced checks often result in a fee. • Step 2: • Write the Check

Instructions • Step 3: • Record the Check • You should keep a record of all checks that you write so that you can check your records against the bank's records when you get your monthly statement . • Step 4: • Calculate your new Balance • Use a calculator to determine how much money you have left in your bank account

  13. Tips and Warnings • Write as few checks as possible. • Consult your account balance before writing a check. • Always use a pen. • Write in print rather than script. • Don't write entire account numbers in the memo field. • Keep a record of every check you write.
