    1. Fischer-Tropsch Technology Domestic Fuel Alternative

    2. Paul Dudley United States Department of Energy 27 Years Experience

    3. Agenda Need Solution Timetable Budget Conclusion Q & A

    4. Need America’s oil addiction is out of hand. We consume 10 million barrels of oil every day. Middle-East war is a direct result. Unnecessary loss of life: 3,000 American soldiers killed and 20,000 wounded. Fuel prices are higher than ever.

    5. Solution: Fischer-Tropsch Technology A means of synthesizing transportation fuel from coal. America is rich in coal. Without dependency on foreign oil, our part in the Middle-East war will end. FT diesel burns cleaner than conventional diesel.

    6. Fischer-Tropsch Process Well

    7. Domestic Impact “Montana could supply the entire United States with its aviation, gas, and diesel fuel for 40 years without creating environmental damage.” (Schweitzer). Gasoline could be produced for $1 per gallon. Our money stays in our country.

    8. FT Diesel Emissions Compared to Conventional Diesel

    9. Mossgas FT Process Well. Mossel Bay, South Africa.

    10. Timetable 1. Proposal Review 4/28/2006 Approved 2. Acquire funding 6/1/2006 Acquired 3. Contract engineers 7/1/2006 Hired to design plant 4. Acquire land 9/1/2006 Purchased for process well 5. Source supplier 10/1/2006 Found local wholesaler of building materials 6. Build process well 10/1/2007 Erected to fit our location 7. Contract buyers 1/1/2008 Contracted commercial companies after showing them our process well 8. Hire and train employees 4/1/2008 Hired dedicated, enthusiastic crew to operate the process well 9. Begin drilling, 5/1/2008 Production underway in all aspects collecting, and refining 10. Begin shipping product 6/1/2008 FT diesel is used in commercial vehicles across the country

    11. Budget Item Cost ($) Land 10,000,000 Software 75,000,000 Piping 200,000,000 Steel and Iron 350,000,000 Building equipment 150,000,000 Drilling equipment 225,000,000 Personnel 300,000,000 Tax and Insurance 30,000,000 Subtotal 1,340,000,000 Indirect (+10%) 1,474,000,000

    12. Conclusion Fischer-Tropsch technology is a domestic alternative to paying and killing for our transportation fuel. It can be produced cheaper than from crude oil. Fischer-Tropsch diesel creates less pollution than conventional diesel.
