  4. Why Relay? • 3 Reasons: Celebrate, Remember, Fight Back! • Celebrate! • Relay is your chance to celebrate what you, a loved one, or a friend has overcome. Whether you are a participant or a survivor. • Remember! • Relay is also an opportunity to remember those who have lost their lives to cancer and honor those who have fought or are fighting the disease. • Fight Back! • Relay encourages you to take action against the disease that has taken too much from too many.

Don’t Forget to Fundraise! • Fundraise before the event: • Email family and friends with your story and ask them to donate! • Facilitate fundraisers like bake sales • Fundraise during the event: • Brainstorm with your team for a fun fundraiser to have at your tent • Bring money to help out other teams!

Cancer Facts • There are over 100 types of cancer and any part of the body can be affected. • Tobacco use is the single most preventable cause of cancer in the world causing 22% of cancer deaths. • About 77% of all cancers are diagnosed in people 55 years old or older. • Today, 2 out of 3 people SURVIVE cancer.
