The Compassion of Jesus • Weak and suffering, Matt 4:23-24; 9:35-36; 14:14; 20:34 • His miracles are why we put our faith in Him as the Christ, the Son of God • Revealed by the Father through His words and works, Matt 16:16-17; Jno 5:36-37 • Transfiguration gave a glimpse of His glory and power (Matt 17:1-9) • He explained about John and by implication, that He is Messiah (Matt 17:10-13)
Record of the Miracle(Matt 17:14-21; Mark 9:14-29) • Multitude gathered around as the scribes disputed with unsuccessful apostles, Mk 9:14 • Lesson: There will always be skeptics who have hard hearts, Jno 12:37-41 • Boy afflicted due to demonic possession is brought to Jesus, Matt 17:15 • Lesson: Innocent suffering is no reason to reject God, Job 2:9-10
