1927 - Birth Cesar Chavez was born Cesario Estrada Chavez. He was born on March 31, 1927. His parent’s names are Librado Chavez and Juana Estrada Chavez.
Birth - 1927 Arizona, where Cesar was born.
1942 - Farming Chavez begins his work as a farmer. Chavez will continue to work as a farmer for the rest of his life.

1948 - Marriage Chavez marries Helen Favela. They later had 8 children together.

1952 - Joins Community Service Organization Chavez becomes an organizer for the Mexican American community and dedicates a lot of his time to this cause.

1962 - Founds NFWA Chavez founds the National Farm Workers Association (NFWA) in California, with labor leader Dolores Huerta. The organization is dedicated to the rights of migrant workers, including a minimum wage and insurance.

1994, 2000 – Honors President Bill Clinton awards Chavez a posthumous Medal of Freedom. The state of California establishes a state holiday on Chavez’s birthday to honor him.
