Why was the compromise of 1877 created • The new government would give more aid to the region and withdraw all remaining troops from the southern states. • Legislation to help industrialize the South. • The construction of another transcontinental railroad using the Texas and Pacific in the South

  3. The Goal • Help rebuild the south better

  4. Failure • It was a failure because it ended reconstruction in the southern states.
