  3. Susan Olson is a Purchasing Manager at Recreational Equipment, Inc. (REI). She has been in this role for seven years and in the Purchasing field for a total of fourteen years. In her current role she is focused primarily on technology purchasing but also serves as the business owner for procure-to-pay software selection for her enterprise.

  4. Looking Back • REI deployed ProcureIt initially in late 2006 • Using Purchase Manager module • Approximately 900 users

  5. Options • Option 1 • Stay with current deployment model • REI specific version licensed per user • Option 2 • Cloud deployment • Subscription model

  6. Cloud Pros • Helps REI stay on current version • Helps REI stop customizing ourselves into a corner • REI is very comfortable with cloud/SAAS deployments

  7. Cloud Cons • REI forced to move to current versions • Unable to customize • REI would be an early adopter within Verian’s customer portfolio

  8. Decision • What ultimately made the decision? • Could we live without all of our customizations? • Yes!

  9. Scope • Upgrade from Version 7.0.2 to 11.1 • Bring all of our data forward • Order/POs, Vendors, Catalog Items, Users, Locations • Changes to align better with financial system change • New account coding, Improve interfacing • Be done before our Nov/Dec holiday season

  10. Lessons Learned • More due diligence on forced versions that come with Cloud deployment • More evaluation of impact on non-IT resources
