What is a Procedure? • A procedure is the way we do things.
Morning Procedures 1. Greet your teachers and enter our classroom quietly. 2. Copy your homework and spelling/vocabulary words. 3. Put your homework folder on your desk so that your teacher/assistant can check it. 4. Begin bell work quietly.
Give me five • Please raise your hand when you need our attention. • When we need your attention we will raise our hand. Stop what you are doing, raise your hand, and make eye contact with us to show that you are ready to listen. • Give me five: your eyes, your ears, your brain, your heart, and your attention.
Starting Bell Work 1. The day’s agenda and bell work will be posted every morning on the Promethean Board. Date Schedule for the day morning assignment/activity Morning assignment needs to be completed by 8:30am
Colleting Papers & Assignments Paper and Assignments will be collected in number order. The teacher will call each student by their assigned number and will quietly, WITHOUT TALKING, the student will bring the paper up to the teacher/assistant.
Paper Heading All paper and assignments should have proper heading. Name Date Number
Procedures • Keep voices low at all times. In the hallways and during announcements there is NO talking. • Respect each other at all times, as well as respect all other students, teachers, principals, and visitors at our school. • Use your best manners at all times. • Keep your hands and feet to yourselves.
Bathroom/ Health Procedures • Bathroom: Three times a day unless it’s an emergency. Morning, before Lunch, and later in the afternoon. • When you go to the bathroom you drink water, there is no drinking of water during class time. (NO water bottles) • Wash your hands often. • Use appropriate bathroom behavior. • Clean up and put back in place all the items you use in the classroom.
procedures • Running is only allowed during PE games and on the playground. • When someone enters the classroom, continue working quietly and follow all classroom rules and procedures. • No don’t interrupt the teacher • There is NO talking when there is a visitor in the classroom. • Remember: if you need to get my attention, raise your hand and wait. NEVER call out my name to get my attention.
Turning in Homework Homework will be turned in DAILY All papers should have proper heading Name Date Number Title: if needed Homework folders or assignments are to stay on top of your desk in order for the teacher/assistant, to check, review, or collect. You DO NOT give your teacher/assistant your folder or assignment.
Procedure for Working in Groups • WHISPER at ALL Times • You are responsible for your own job and the results of the group. • If you have a question, ask your support buddies. Do not ask your teacher. • You must be willing to help if a support buddy asks you for help. • If no one in your group can answer a question, choose one person to raise their hand for help from the teacher.
Changing Groups Students will only change seats during math centers. You will not change seats during reading centers. The assignment will change when the teacher prompts the students to change assignments. The cue to change assignments will be the lights turning off and on. Transition of Assignments No TALKING During changing of assignments, there is NO TALKING allowed. Group work and Centers function in a timely manner and are important. There is no time to waist!
Lining Up Procedures • Sit quietly with your desk cleared. • When your table is called, stand up and push in your chair. • Quietly line up. • There is no skipping in the line. • WALK appropriately in line.
Getting Help Raise your hand with 1 finger Bathroom Emergency Remember bathroom is three times a day at the time the teacher has designated. Raise your hand with 2 fingers Library Students will be allowed to go to the class library to pick a book and read silently. Raise your hand with 3 fingers HELP Students will silently raise their hand to ask for help and will WAIT patiently until the teacher is able to help them. You DO NOT call upon the teacher.
Cafeteria Rules Walk in and out of the Cafeteria quietly. Once you have received your food you are to sit quietly. Clean up after yourself and others. Even if the mess is not yours. Students are to help each other to keep the cafeteria nice and clean. Proper behavior is expected. Do not throw food. Do not speak with your mouth full. Do not leave garbage on the table. Same procedures apply for eating lunch in the classroom.
Picking Class Helpers Class helpers will be chosen by the teacher. The teacher will go down the class list in number order and will choose the class helpers. You are expected to do your job the best you can. If I feel you are not doing your job correctly, the privilege will be taken away from you.
Keeping Noise Level Down Students are to work QUIETLY at all times. During independent work there is NO TALKING. Group work: whispering is allowed if needed. If the class room noise is too loud, the teacher will ring her bell. Once you hear the bell the student MUST STOP TALKING at this time.
When you are absent Student must meet with the teacher or Assistant. There will be a folder that will have absent work ready for the student. IMPORTANT: The student is responsible to copy and collect the work that they did not do the next day. Example: If you were absent and you are missing vocabulary words and meanings; it is the students responsibility to copy the information from another student.
Dismissal Procedures • Before afternoon dismissal, pack what’s needed to take home, reflect on the day’s work, and wait to be dismissed. • Clean your surrounding desk area at the end of the day. • Push in your chair.
