Let’s take time to reflect on.. • In a digital world, no organization can achieve results without incorporating technology into every aspect of its everyday practices. • The Partnership for the 21st Century Skills (2008) indicates that all students, regardless of their career path, require 21st-century skills to succeed in work, school, life. (Morrison, 5)

  3. It’s time for schools to MAXIMAIZE the impact of technology !! Five headings for the 21st Century Skills • Knowledge of Core Subjects • 21st Century Themes • Learning and Innovation Skills • Information, Media and Technology Skills • Life and Career Skills *We must include the NETS- info. next

  4. ISTE NETS for students • Creativity & Innovation • Communication & Collaboration • Research & Information Fluency • Critical Thinking, Problem Solving & Decision Making • Digital Citizenship • Technology Operations & Concepts

  5. Teacher-Centered Focuses on how they can improve student achievement on a test Focuses on memorization of facts, formulas, dates & names Must recall the facts STUDENT CENTERED Students will: Formulate problems Collect information Organize and manipulate data FORMULATE an answer WE ARE MOVING

  6. 3 Basic Premises of student-centered learning environment • Understanding one’s world rather than mimicking the content. • Understanding one’s world requires the student to actively process and manipulate information. • One’s knowledge is refined through negotiations with others and evaluation if own understanding.
