South Carolina Graduation Requirements • A student must earn a total of 24 Carnegie units. - 4 English - 4 Math - 3 Social Studies - 3 Science - 1 PE/ROTC - 1 Computer - 1 Foreign Language/CATE - 7 Electives • In addition, a student must pass the ELA and math section of the HSAP (exit) exam to be eligible for a high school diploma. • It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that she/he meets all of the necessary requirements for graduation. • English and Math are two subjects which must be passed in order to be promoted to the next grade level.
2 year college plan vs. 4 year college plan When students attend Saluda High School, the classes they take will either be on the 2-year Technical College Prep track or the 4-year College Prep track.

Attendance Information • Written excuses are to be turned in to the attendance clerk before first period. • No excuses will be accepted at the end of a semester or school year. Excuses are to be turned in by the third day back to school. • A student is allowed 5 unexcused absences per semester class and 10 per year-long class before she/he receives a failure due to absence.
Strategies for High School Success • Set goals for success in your classes(identify the grades you wish to seek) and set personal goals as well. • Get involved in extra-curricular activities, clubs, sports and/or volunteer work. • Take advantage of after school programs that are offered to assist with academic success (SCORE) • Always ask questions! We are all here to make sure that you receive the education that you deserve.

Dr. Vac’s Words of Wisdom • COME TO SCHOOL EVERY DAY! • Don’t be late to class. • Stay on top of your grades. • Pay attention to daily announcements, website & Facebook. • Get involved. • Accept and embrace challenges (rigorous coursework.) • Healthy communication between parents and • students is crucial to success. • Focus on “The Big Picture,” and cut out the drama. • PARENTS: Think long and hard before you decide to move. • Do not be in such a hurry to grow up!
