College Entrance Exam - ACT • ACT – www.act.org • $35 for Registration • Highest Possible Score – 36 • The National Average – 20 • Subject Areas • English – 75 Questions – 45 Minutes • Math – 60 Questions – 60 Minutes • Reading – 40 Questions – 35 Minutes • Science – 40 Questions – 35 Minutes • Optional Writing (Required for many schools) – 30 Minutes
College Entrance Exam - SAT • SAT – www.collegeboard.com • $47 for Registration • Highest Possible Score – 2400 • The National Average – 1500 • Subject Areas • Writing – 200 to 800 Possible Score • Math – 200 to 800 Possible Score • Critical Reading – 200 to 800 Possible Score

Eligibility • Register Online - $60 • www.eligibilitycenter.org • Official Test Scores MUST be Sent from ACT and/or SAT • Use Code 9999 • The Higher the ACT and/or SAT Score, the Lower the GPA has to be for Eligibility • 16 Core Courses are Required for Division I – Only core courses are used to compute the GPA

College Admissions Process • Varies with College • Early Decision (Binding) • Early Action (Non-Binding) • Regular Decision (Non-Binding) • Contact College Admissions Office or visit the College Website
Common Application • Check website: www.commonapp.org • No requests for transcripts necessary
Recommendations • Provide Resume and Senior Packet Info. • Provide College Form if available • Give at least 3 Weeks Notice • For December 15 – January 10 deadlines, give all information to Mr. Prater by November 22
Application Notes/Tips • Every piece of the puzzle should be a new piece • Do not be a “Super Senior” there is no magic number • Work the funnel • Let your student take the initiative
College Visits • ALWAYS Contact College Admissions office to schedule visit • Pick up an excused visit form in Mr. Prater’s office 2 weeks in advance (I will get the visit excused with our attendance office) • Seniors - 5 School Days Allowed for College Visits
