  2. Informal Survey • The survey was sent to 23 of 24 counties in the Northern Indiana County Warning Forecast Area.

  3. How do you currently receive severe weather information that affects your county? • Internet (includes NWS Chat) 80% • All Hazard Alert Radio 50% • Television 60% • Text Messages 70% • Code Red 10% • Radio 30% • Web EOC 10% • IDACS 10% • Storm Spotters 10%

Do you have an organized SKYWARN Group?When Do you Activate Them(i.e. during watches or only when warnings are issued)? • 60% have an active group • 20% indicate they activate themselves • 30% indicate they activate when warnings are issued. • 10% indicate they activate when watches are issued.

Do your emergency response agencies deploy for weather watch?If yes, when do they activate (i.e. during watches or only when warnings are issued)? • 50% indicated that it is a local agency decision with two counties indicating that emergency response agencies will deploy if requested to do so by EMA. • 50% responded that they only deploy for weather watch when warnings are issued.

  8. Do you contact the National Weather Service and provide them with information or updates regarding weather conditions or damage reports in your county? • 60% responded that they do. • 40% responded that they occasionally do or as best as possible

  10. Do you notify local media and provide them with information or updates regarding weather conditions or damage reports in your county? • 40% responded that they do. One indicated that it is usually provided primarily to the local radio and newspaper. • 10% responded that they only report based on severity.
