  2. African American Heritage Month • Every year on February 1 through February 29 in the United States we celebrate African American Heritage Month. • Different activities and events are celebrated throughout the month to learn about the African Culture.

  3. In honor of celebrating African American History Month We will create a Research Project on different African American Scientists and Inventors.

  4. It will be a pair activity, you will work with a partner. -You will choose an African American Scientist or Inventor from the list given to you. -Then you will choose what type of project to create: 1. Poster 2. Brochure 3. Foldable 4. Role play

  5. Rubric for the Research Project • Total of 100 pts. • Find sources from the internet, as well as books, journals, or magazines.

  6. NO PLAGARISM! • Make sure you write the summary and information you receive in your own words. Do not copy the words from your sources. You will receive a “0, F” as your final grade for your project if you plagiarize.

  7. Examples of Scientists/Inventors to choose from: Scientists: • Rebecca Cole • Edward Alexander Bouchet • Dr. Daniel Hale Williams Inventors: • Thomas L. Jennings • Norbert Jillieux • Benjamin Bradley • Elijah McCoy

  8. Project Due • Friday, February 24,2012 (NO EXCEPTIONS!) • You will have to present to the class your project on Friday. • You will receive a Research, Writing, Listening, Speaking, and Science Grade for this project.
