Activity: Create a Lifeline* (using a graph) 1. Hold your graph paper in “landscape view” 2. On the graph paper, draw a Y-axis 12 boxes from left and an X-axis 16 boxes from the top. 3. Number the X-axis from -5 to 14, number the Y-axis from 7 to -7. (see sample)4. The negative numbers on the X-axis represent the years before you were born, the positive numbers are years after birth (ex. +6 represents you at 6 years old).5. Beginning with your birth (at the origin), draw a line to the most important positive and negative events in your life and at what age they occurred. (see example by Mr.Q)6. Explain at each “high” and “low” point what happened.7. Homework: Ask your parents or guardians about any important events that affected your life that happened before your birth and add some of them to your Lifeline. (see example by Mr.Q)*Since they are personal, these Lifelines will not be shared with the rest of the class.
