Mission Statement • Development, implementation and evaluation of programs intended to recruit new members, retain existing members and recover members who have allowed their memberships to lapse • Analysis of membership statistics • Support the Senior and Fellow membership program • Create new MD products that fits the Region • Enhancement and maintenance of the MD Web pages

  6. Record Year for Student Membership • Overall growth of 8.1% over 2004 • 2.1% increase over the record set in 2002 • Results by Regions: • Region 8 (+14.9%) • Region 9 (+29.3) • Region 10 (+14.2%) • US Regions (-2.9%) !

Research ReportWhy Members Don’t Renew? • Invitation to participate in the survey was sent to 35,000 former members and 6,600 (20%) replied • Survey listed 20 reasons for non-renewal and the respondents were asked to choose any that applied • The following five items were the most frequent: • Membership is too expensive (46%) • Value does not justify cost (38%) • Insufficient time to read publications (23%) • Dissatisfaction with networking opportunities (18%) • Employer no longer pays dues (16%)

Promoting Half-Year Dues • Starting March 01, 2006, new members joining IEEE will pay only ½ the dues for the remaining year. • This applies also to adding new society or publication to your existing membership. • Local Sections are encouraged to plan for a membership promotion event using the half-year rates. • Help Get the word Out

Fellow Nomination • Deadline: March 01, 2006 • Nominee must be a Senior Member • Need a nominator to submit the nomination form • Need References from 5 IEEE active Fellow members • Need endorsement (not necessary from Fellow members) • The entire process can be done electronically http://www.ieee.org/about/awards/fellows/fellows.htm

  10. Future Goals • Promote Membership among industries • Promote membership elevation programs (Senior and Fellow) • Increase IEEE awareness among sections • Provide support to GOLD and WIE • Provide support to ExCom programs and projects • Participate in MD workshops
