Desisting a life of comfort of Thermal Project Townships and their social city life…
Living where reaching the Nearest Rail head takes a full day…
Where half of them have to travel 2 continuous days to reach their home even in the case of emergency…
Often staying away from their families for more than six months at a stretch…
Where the highway itself wont give you second chance of mistake…
With minimum of facilities: • Working initial years without a seat to sit, • Living three years in shared rooms, • Most of the time without any communication facility.
Often compromising their self respect in the interest of project…
With half of the local hostile population being President of one body or another And…
Tackling head on the adverse Geological conditions of Himalayan geology like Shear zone, water ingress and being close to Main Central Thrust…
At the same time fighting with the adverse climatic conditions of sub zero temperatures and land slides at every site during every rain…
Working day and Night… • While temperature of night goes well below zero.
Night… • When the water on the streets turns in to solid ice - at times posing high risk to commuting vehicles and persons.
Winter Night… • When the metal gets stuck to the skin the moment it touches. • When the water ingress of tunnel on your head and feet is at freezing temperature.
Working with average working hours probably more than any other project in the world… …and working happily, fully aware of the importance this Mega Power Project holds in the growth of their motherland.
Fueled with the fire of self motivation and vision of “Power to all” while families of some of them are still living without electricity.
I Salute these unsung heroes and un-armed soldiers of the nation contributing their sweat and blood to the project and hence the nation…….
