How T-cells recognize antigens A cell that can process antigens like a dendritic cell, ingests the antigen Enzymes in the antigen-processing cell break the antigen into fragments The antigen fragments are transported to the cells surface The t-cell receptor recognizes the antigen fragment and attaches to the part of the HLA molecule
The Immune system contains three types of APCs Macrophages 2. Dendritc Cells 3. B cells
Key Terms APC: APC stands for antigen presenting cell, it stimulates T-cells into activating B-cells. Macrophage: Macrophage is a “big eater” its main purpose is to devour foreign cells. T-Cell: A T-cell is a cell that helps fight bacteria and viruses. There are different kinds of T-cells such as helper, suppressor, memory, and cytotoxic T-cells. MHC: MHC stands for Major Histocompatibility Complex, it determines if a cell is normal or abnormal.
