  2. One night in 1987, when the 25-year-old Jim Carrey was a struggling Canadian comic trying to make his name in Los Angeles, he drove his old Toyota up to Mulholland Drive in the Hollywood hills. Sitting there and dreaming of the future, Carrey wrote himself a check for $10 million. He dated it Thanksgiving 1995 and added the notation, "for acting services rendered." By the time 1995 actually rolled around, his rambunctious goofball roles in "Ace Ventura: Pet Detective," "The Mask" and "Dumb & Dumber" had yielded worldwide grosses of $550 million, and superstar's asking price was up to $20 million per picture. But by that time, Carrey no longer had the check anyway -- in July 1994, he had slipped it into his father's pocket as he lay in his coffin.   7. Specific Measureable Attainable Relevant Time-bound Make These Goals S.M.A.R.T. Make These Goals SMART: I will have a lot of money in the future I will walk on the moon next year By the time I’m 30, I will make a 6 figure income. Within 6 years of graduating from high school I will receive an aeronautical engineering degree and apply to NASA.

This is an example of a list of goals made during freshman year. 13 Year Goal:I will buy a four bedroom house in La Mesa, Ca 10 Year Goal:I will become a 3rd grade teacher at Lakeview Elementary 9 Year Goal: I will be an intern teacher in Santee, Ca while I finish up my teacher credential classes at SDSU. 4 Year Goal: I will be accepted and enrolled at SDSU by September 2016 4 Year Goal: I will buy a used Honda Accord LX with my savings before I go off to college in September of 2016 4 Year Goal: I will graduate from West Hills High School on June 22, 2016 2 Year Goal: I will get a part-time job in Santee by my sophomore year to save for a car 1 Year Goal: I will have a 4.0 G.P.A. by the end of first semester 2012. 1 Month Goal: I will have enrolled in at least 3 A-G classes at West Hills 1 Week Goal: I will complete the final draft for my essay by Friday 1 Day Goal: I will finish the rough draft of my essay by Wednesday.
