IB Pre- AP/IB
Dual Credit • Classes taught by Collin College Professors • Must be admitted into Collin College and pass the TSI exam • Courses taught on-campus and off-campus • Courses for dual and concurrent credit • Information meetings in April (must register and attend) • Registration for summer and fall in May • State law requires student have a meningitis shot
Advanced Placement • Pick courses based on strengths/interests • Curriculum and exams written under the direction of the College Board • Offers students the opportunities to receive college level instruction while in high school • AP Exams are given in May, and are scored on a 1-5 scale • Qualifying scores on exams may earn the student college credit or advanced placement
International Baccalaureate • Choose courses based on strengths/interests or IB full diploma • Curriculum and exams written under the direction of the International Baccalaureate • Offers students the opportunity to receive college level liberal arts based instruction while in high school • IB Exams are ongoing, include internal and external components, and are scored on a 1-7 scale • Qualifying scores on exams may earn the student college credit or advanced placement

What is the IB Full Diploma? • Take 6 IB courses over the last 2 years of high school. Must take a course in each subject area. • 3 courses are Higher Level (2 years- 240 hours) and 3 are Standard Level (1 or 2 years- 150 hours) • Take Theory of Knowledge course • Complete 150 hours of Creativity, Action, and Service (CAS) • Complete Extended Essay
Obtaining the Full Diploma • Score a minimum of 24 points from IB exams • Can get 3 bonus points from extended essay and TOK course work • 12 points must come from HL exams with no score of a 2 or lower • No more than 2 2’s on SL exams • No 1 on any exam
