MEET SARAH ANDREWS:YOUR INSTRUCTOR Sarah Andrews is a native of Redlands, California. She has been a pharmacy technician since 2002. Sarah has recently worked for CVS Caremark Specialty Pharmacy. She became a pharmacy technician because her first job was in a pharmacy as a clerk and loved it!

FALL 2014 SCHEDULE Class does not meet: 11/29
PROGRAM HOURS • You will learn: • Introduction to various pharmacy practice settings • Cover drug classes • Basic anatomy & physiology • Drug interactions • Daily pharmacy activities • Pharmacy math concepts • Calculations • Conversions • (120 hours in the classroom, 60 hours online training, 120-hour externship) • 300 hours total
LICENSING REQUIREMENTS • ALL PHARMACY TECHINCIANS MUST BE LICENSED TO WORK! • HS Diploma or GED and • Complete a training program of at least 240 hours • Associates Degree Pharmacy Technician • Pass board-approved exam • Military training for pharmacy technician
GETTING LICENSED • pharmacy.ca.gov/applicants • Application fee is $105 • High school diploma/G.E.D • At least 16 years old • NO PRIOR CRIMINAL RECORD (especially drug or violent offenses)
CERTIFICATION • Not required for licensure. Required by most employers. • Two national certification exams: • PTCB exam—offered by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board • www.ptcb.org • $129—renewal every 2 years • ExCPTexam—offered by the National Healthcareer Association • www.nhanow.com • $105—renewal every 2 years • Renewal consists of doing Continuing Education Credits or CE’s • Each certification requires 20 CE’s every 2 years

CAREER HIERARCHY • Pharmacy Technician Level 1: • An individual with no pharmacy experience, education, training, certification; works at the cash register or in stock room • Pharmacy Technician Level 2 & 3: • An individual with education or training in pharmacy technician education, certified; works in dispensing medications, patient processing • Pharmacy Technician Manager/Supervisor: • An individual with at least 5 years of pharmacy experience; is educated and trained for entry and advanced level processes, certified, proficiency in many skills.

CANCELLATION POLICY Classroom/Workshops or Programs Cancelled by College • 100% refunds are given when a workshop or program is cancelled by the College. Every effort will be made to notify you of workshop or program cancellations five (5) days prior to start of session. Classroom/Workshops or Programs Cancelled by Registrant • Refunds will be provided minus a $20 processing fee, when the office is notified by email, in writing, or in person up to three (3) business days prior to the beginning of the session (no exceptions). For cancellations after the deadline, NO REFUND will be given.
