Chicago Public SchoolsCulture of Calm Initiative • Identify the High Schools at greatest risk for violence • Create a safe school environment • Collaborative approach to discipline, including evaluation/treatment for mental health issues CPD CIT CPS Crisis Unit • Train school administration & staff on mental health issues • Explore treatment alternative options first to address discipline issues • Increase graduation rates/decrease expulsion rates • Expand afterschool options and safe transport to and from school for extra-curricular activities
