About OSHCON • Free service for Small Private Texas Employers (<250 at one site, 500 nationwide) • Funded by OSHA and the State of TX • Separate from Federal OSHA Enforcement, Workers Comp, or Insurance Carriers • Voluntary Employer Participation, Employer Controls the Scope of the Visit • No citations or fines

  9. Professional OSHCON Consultants Provide: • Hazard Assessments • Noise Monitoring • Air Sampling • Safety and Health Program Assistance • Technical Updates on OSHA Standards • Training Materials and Publications • Comprehensive or Limited Visits

  10. Your OSHCONConsultant WILL: • Help you recognize hazards • Suggest general approaches or options for solving problems • Identify other safety and health resources available if you need further assistance • Provide hands-on training for you and your employees

  11. Your OSHCON Consultant WILL NOT: • Issue citations or penalties • Report violations to OSHA • Guarantee that your workplace will be free of citations if inspected by OSHA

  12. So What’s The Catch? You will be required to fix any serious hazards identified during the visit by an mutually agreed upon time frame. Because the program is voluntary there is no on-site verification unless you request it.

  13. Consultation Process • Step 1: Request Contact OSHCON and request a consultation by telephone or online

  14. Consultation Process • Step 2: On-Site Visit • Opening conference • Walk-through survey • Safety and health program assistance • Closing conference

  15. Consultation Process • Step 3: Evaluation and Report • Information evaluation • Relevant research and/or sample analysis • Report with findings and recommendations

  16. SHARP • Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program • Exemption from Programmed OSHA Inspections • Initial exemption for one year • Subsequent renewals for two years (self-audit must be submitted to OSHCON after one year to verify continued eligibility)
