  5. Discipline Procedure • Discipline will be marked in Homework Folder • Warning • 5 minutes loss of recess • 10 minutes loss of recess • No recess • Out of classroom (Office)

  6. Homework Expectations • Homework Notebook/Folder • Nightly Reading (30 minutes) • Writing Night Writes Tues/Thurs • Math ( Given each week; due Friday) • Words Their Way (weekly assignment) • NO HOMEWORK= 11 points taken off daily (RRISD handbook)

  7. Tuesday Folders • Sent home every Tuesday • Require parent/guardian signature • Signature means you have seen all grades/information in the folder. (Please remove all paperwork prior to returning folder.)

  8. Grading Policy • A: 90 – 100 • B: 80 – 89 • C: 70 – 79 • Below 70: Not passing • Progress Reports

  9. Reading Requirements • 55 minutes daily (at school, 30 min. at Home) • Must have book every morning • Accelerated Reader books • (meet goal per 9wks)

  10. Writing • Learn the 6 traits of Writing: Ideas Organization Voice Word choice Revising Editing • Grammar • Journal Writing • Reading/Writing Workshop • Revising and Editing practices

  11. MATH Computation • 90 minutes daily • Problem of the day Timed test weekly starting in the Fall *Please practice basic facts nightly

  12. Science • Spend 2-3 weeks per unit • Review sheet and test • Journals, investigations, etc. • This 9 wks we will cover: Science Processes,Properties of Matter, and Forces of Motion

  13. Social Studies • Focus is on Texas History, Students will be using Social Studies Weekly magazine • Spend 2-3 weeks per unit • Review sheet and test • Journals, videos, projects • This 9 weeks we will cover: Maps and Regions, Native Americans, and Explorers.

  14. Parent Conferences • Please sign up in the front of the room before you leave

  15. Classroom Needs • Volunteers/ Homeroom Parent • Supplies (if we are running low!) • Hand sanitizer (alcohol-free), COLORED PENCILS and GLUE STICKS, Sticky Notes, and Dry Erase Markers
