The Hunger Games Author: Suzanne Collins By: Laura Redlinger
The arena is a forest type area where 24 tributes will fight for fame, fortune, and survival. Without this setting there would be nowhere for the tributes to find shelter, to hide, or find food and water for survival. The setting actually helped Katniss because of her ability to hunt and gather food, without the forest like arena Katniss would not have been able to accomplish what she did which was win the Hunger Games. Setting: The Arena

Prim’s name was pulled at the reaping, but Katniss didn’t want Prim to get hurt so she had to make a choice……….save her sister and volunteer as tribute or let her sister go to the capitol on her own and get killed. Her choice was to saver her sister and volunteer (who wouldn’t want to save their sister). • Another conflict of Katniss’ was to stay alive now that she had become a tribute for the games. • By the way, the type of conflict Katniss is facing is man vs. self because she is having to make a huge decision in a shortened amount of time The Conflict

Katnisswas being defiant of the government because in her opinion the governments laws were wrong to her, so Katniss did what she could to fight back and make things right. The|message (theme)
The story was told in third person limited in which the reader could enter Katniss’ mind and catch a glimpse of what was going on in her head. • If the story was told in first person then it would be like reading Katniss’ journal and learn every thought and felt. point of view
The Mockingjay pin that the Mayor’s daughter had given Katniss represented Katniss’ rebellion . Mockingjays were used by the rebels to send false information to the capitol. Symbolism
The Hunger Games is worth reading multiple times. I myself had actually re-read the book, I choose to re-read it because I loved the book the first time I read it.The description in the book was so vivid that I could imagine what the characters would look like in my head. In my opinion it’s better to read the book before you watch the movie. Recommendations
