Objective: SWBAT Critically evaluate the craft and structure of the graphic novel by assessing the effectiveness of various components. 14May English I CPA Do Now: Select an illustrated scene from Chapter 2 of Art Spiegelman’s MAUS I that stuck out to you in your reading from yesterday. Describe how Speigelman effectively employs visual elements to engage his reader in this particular scene.

  2. Objective: SWBAT Critically evaluate the craft and structure of the graphic novel by assessing the effectiveness of various components. Agenda - MAUS I Reading: Chapter 3 Task: After you read complete the following tasks on your notecard. Front: Select the most powerful graphic within Chapter 3 and assess how Spiegelman uses imagery to convey a particular mood and inspire a feeling in the reader. Back: Select the most powerful quote within Chapter 3 and describe how Spiegelman’s diction, syntax, and / or punctuation contribute to the effectiveness of theses lines. *Be prepared to share your responses HW: Edit Second Written Response (Due Thursday Night Online).
