The Great Society • Continues his War on Poverty • Medicare • National health care for Americans over 65 • Medicaid • Free health care for the needy • Elementary and Secondary School Education Act • $1.3 billion to schools in impoverished areas • Omnibus Housing Act • Housing and Urban Development Act • HUD • Billions of dollars to urban renewal • Housing Aid for low income families • First African American (Robert C. Weaver) in Cabinet.
