What Makes Study Abroad Trip to China Unique! “In studying abroad, you’re not just changing your own life…you’re changing the lives of everyone you meet.” - Michelle Obama UTRGV School of Art’s ARTS-4337 or ARTS-4339 class is an affordable study abroad opportunity which enables you to step outside your comfort zones to gain a real experience with the world beyond your borders - experience with languages, cultures and societies very different from your own. Or, as the Chinese saying goes: “Better to travel ten thousand miles than to read ten thousand books.”

Benefit-1: Get academic credit and study one of the art classes through the trip (3-6 credit hour) ARTS-4337 Digital Photography The ARTS-4337 Digital Photography in each summer is a 4-week Summer I Class covered during the UTRGV Study Abroad trip to China.This graphic design course will introduce the terminology and process of creating images for surreal and conceptual photography. The course will also undertake the personal development of student ability as an image designer and digital photographer to visually com- municate their ideas in a creative manner. The effective integration of digital photography and exploration of image manipulation is of parti- cular emphasis in this course.
Benefit-1: Get academic credit and study one of the art classes through the trip: ARTS-4391 Visual Travel Journal The ARTS-4391 Visual Travel Journal in each summer is a 4-week Summer I class covered during the UTRGV Study Abroad trip to China.This class focuses on methods of image making and page layout to create a travel journal that explores the physical and psychological experience of the student traveler. While an emphasis is placed on the visual aspect of the journal, students will complete some writing. Students will integrate type and image, while exploring the concept of visual story telling.
Students will use the HYNU College of Fine Arts’s lighting studio of every afternoon for practicing their skills of portrait shooting and lighting. Classroom Activities:Except the outdoor shooting at the beginning and the ending part of the trip, students will use HYNU’s digital lab every morning for learning Adobe Photoshop/Lightroom, and practicing the skills of image retouching and image manipulation.
