Coaches will: • experience a goal setting/action planning model to utilize with teams of teachers. • learn the alignment of goal setting/action planning work with The Framework for Teaching: Classroom Teacher and Coaches. • learn how to make sample Coaching Plans more specific. Outcomes

Stage 1: Teacher(s) and coach establish a goal for students that is driven by the standards • Putting it into Action: • Check all standards that your students historically perform poorly or are hard concepts to learn. Choose 1 of those standards • Choose 1 learning target write a goal. • Begin your goal with: • Students will be able to
Stage 2a: Teacher(s) and coach pre-assess students and design instruction to meet their needs. • Putting it into Action: • Brainstorm a list ways to pre-assess students to establish a baseline. Choose 1 pre-assessment. • Set date baseline will be collected and by whom. • Set date baseline results will be shared.
Stage 2b: Teacher(s) and coach pre-assess students and design instruction to meet their needs. • Putting it into Action: • Brainstorm a list of evidence-based instructional practices that align to the goal. • Choose 1 instructional practice to implement. • If professional development is needed, decide what type, when, and by whom.
Stage 3: Teacher(s) and coach implement instruction and then modify it when students aren’t reaching the goal. • Putting it into Action: • Brainstorm a list of evidence that will be collected along the way from students to determine if the instruction is working or not. • Choose 1 or 2 to use as a measure for learning. • Decide when and how the evidence will be collected and by whom. • Set dates for reflecting on the evidence.
Stage 4: Teacher(s) and coach re-assess students to determine if they have reached the goal. Additional instruction is planned for those who haven’t. • Putting it into Action: • Brainstorm a list of ways to re-assess students. • Choose 1 to use as a measure of learning. • Set date assessment will be collected and by whom. • Set date assessment results will be shared.
