“Music expresses that which cannot be put into words and that which cannot remain silent.” - Victor Hugo
Context • Music is an essential component throughout the world of electronic gaming **All images in this presentation were found using the Google Image Search engine
Context (cont.) • In 2005, music transformed from just background noise with the creation of Guitar Hero • Instead of creating ambience, music became a staple feature of the game
Context (cont.) • Following the creation of Guitar Hero, similar games began to debut with their own takes on Red Octane and Harmonix’s original concept
Project Proposal • For my project, I plan on making music the true focal point of the game • The objective of the game is to get to the end of the level while avoiding any obstacles along the way
Project Proposal (cont.) • What makes the game so unique is the interface and gameplay • i.e. obstacles can grow or shrink based on the rhythm of the track • First perspective will be utilized in order to provide an immersive experience in the visualization of sound in a 3D environment.
Software Required • Models/Assets • Autodesk Maya • Adobe After Effects CS6 • Textures • Adobe Photoshop • Gaming Engine • Unity 3D • Sound Design • AVID • Audacity • Software Training (all using Lynda.com) • Unity 3D 3.5 Essential Training • Game Prop Creation in Maya
