CCUM 7 9 11 1 3 5 2 4 6 8 10 12 The Tracker Outer Barrel system test The “rod” is the self-contained TOB building block 6 (SS) or 12 (DS) Si modules Interconnection electronics Control electronics Optoelectronics Cooling pipe + module cooling elements integrated on a CF frame • SS rod prototype tested and validated in 2nd half of 2002 • DS rod “final” prototype tested and validated in 1st half of 2003  Validation of the electronics architecture (functionalities of the CTRL chain)  Test of grounding scheme and shielding of signals (study of noise)  Performance with physics signals (b source, cosmic muons)  Cooling efficiency (temperature map in data taking)

  2. The rod test set-up at CERN Alu box, gas tight, with patch panel for pipes (C6F14 cooling and dry air) and other services (it can house 2 rods) Modules, optohybrids, CCUM, high voltage Daq PC with 1 TSC, 1 FEC and 3 FED cards, DAQ Software
