  3. GREA • Global Run End August • Collaboration-wide assessment of CMS experiment status • Part of a monthly series of QC and QA • Sets regular goals that are manageable • Provides regular updates of experiment status to entire collaboration Richard Ruiz

  4. FNAL Support • FNAL provides LHC (collider and detector) support • Includes: hardware (e.g. storage), software (e.g. data transfer) • Remote Operation Center (ROC WHØ1) • FNAL is a Tier 1 center • FNAL needs to ensure quality AND quantity of data Richard Ruiz

  5. GREA at FNAL • New data is not being recorded properly • If it is, FNAL isn’t seeing it • Some (web-based) GUIs are working • GUI: GNU User Interface • Fixing data recording/ransfering problem will become priority if not resolved soon • My role has been to test if GUIs are working Richard Ruiz

  6. TXMon Fitter • I have been looking into ROOT to modify TXMF output to include more data • Include more statistical data • Today (after GREA), I began actively generalizing TXMF for a later release • It was producing img files without plots or fits • … now it isn’t producing anything Richard Ruiz

  7. This Week and Next • Continuing helping out with GREA • Finishes at the end of the week • Finish n-trigger TXMF update by tomorrow after GREA • Continue working on Root • Next week • Begin writing rough draft of CMS internal note Richard Ruiz

  8. Summary • CMS is a great way to discover new physics like: • Technicolor, Axigluons, Axions, preons, Sleptons, Squarks, Goldstones, Magnons, Monopoles, etc… EVEN POLARONS! • TGI for experimentalist • Have a nice day Richard Ruiz
