Training content • What is KNX? • History of KNX • Communication media • KNX Installation • 4.1 TP Topology • STEINEL Control Pro KNX • 5.1 Technical Specifications • 5.2 Features • 6. ETS 4 Demo V1.00
KNX is the worldwide approved INTERNATIONAL STANDARD for home- and building control. • International Standard ISO/IEC 14543-3 • European Standard (CENELEC EN50090 and CEN EN 13321-1 and 13321-2) • Chinese Standard (GB/Z 20965) • ANSI/ASHRAE Standard (ANSI/ASHRAE 135)
BCI EHSA EIBA
Supported media: • Twisted Pair (TP) • Powerline (PL) • Radio frequency (RF) • IP (Ethernet)
Line: • The smallest installation unit is a line. It can consist of a maximum of 4 line segments, each with up to 64 devices
DVC = Device LR = Line repeater PS/Ch = Power supply with choke
The following limit values apply for the cable lenghts within a line: • Length of a line segment max. 1000 m • Distance between power supply and bus devices max. 350 m • Distance between 2 power supplies incl. Chokes max. 200 m • Distance between two bus devices max. 700 m
Area: • If more than 1 line is used, up to 15 lines can be connected to a main line via a line coupler and combined into an area.
LC = Line coupler PS/Ch = Power supply with choke
Several areas: • Several areas can be extended via the backbone line whereby each backbone coupler links its area to the backbone line
DVC = Device LC = Line coupler BC = Backbone coupler PS/Ch = Power supply with choke

KNX mains connection: 24V via KNX bus voltage • Settings: ETS, remote control, bus • Lighting outputs • HVAC output • Presence output • Light-level output • Scenario outputs
Lighting outputs: • switching-mode or constant-lighting mode • 4 channels (interdependent) • full- or semi-automatic • IQ-mode • stay-On time / light-level are changeable by bus • basic illumination • disable and enable output by bus
HVAC output: • switch-ON delay (with room surveillance) • stay-ON time • switch-ON delay and stay-ON time are changeable by bus • disable and enable output by bus
Presence output: • switch-ON delay (with min. number of movements) • send presence cyclically • switch-ON delay and stay-ON time are changeable by bus • disable and enable output by bus
Light level output: • min. light-level change • send measured level cyclically
Scenario outputs: • scene control of 4 scene
