Verbs have number too! • Singular • The girl loves the boy • Puella puerum amat. • Plural • The women are in the house • Feminae in casa sunt.

Who done it? • Person indicates the subject • Verbs have three options for PERSON: singular plural • 1st • 2nd • 3rd

laboro, laborare… • Laboro = • Laborare = • “To work” • Infinitive - always 2nd principle part • All infinitives end in -re • Find the stem: • Chop off the -re
Practice finding the stem • amo, amare, amavi, amatus - to love • paro, parare, paravi, paratus - to get ready, prepare • specto, spectare, spectavi, spectatus
Stem + personal endings • Forming the present tense: labora + o = laboro labora + s = laboras labora + t = laborat labora + mus = laboramus labora + tis = laboratis labora + nt = laborant
