What is SafeTN? SafeTN is a secure, open door communications platform where you can send in tips and access useful resources to help keep your school and community safe.
How Does it Work? With our anonymous reporting system; students, faculty, parents, and the public can easily and confidentially report their concerns to help prevent violence in our schools and our communities. Tips can be submitted 24/7 through the mobile app from any compatible device. All submitted tips are reviewed by the Tennessee Fusion Center – the State of Tennessee’s intelligence center, operated by the Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation; in partnership with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Department of Homeland Security. All tips will be reviewed, assessed, and then sent to law enforcement, mental health crisis response teams, and/or school administrators for intervention based on the information received.
What to Report With SafeTN, you can anonymously report suspicious or criminal behavior and other safety concerns. You can do this by reporting observed threats, behaviors, or actions. Examples of some of the common behaviors and incidents to report: • Assault• Sexual misconduct• Bragging about an upcoming planned attack• Violence or planned violence• Physical injury or harm to self or others• Threats of violence
User Agreement – 1 time agreement upon app download • False reporting is a violation of Tennessee State Law.
Users may review the app’s ‘Privacy Policy’ via the app’s menu.
The App’s main dashboard has options to ‘Send a Tip’ and to access ‘Help & Resources’.
The ‘Help & Resources’ tab contains information, phone numbers, and websites to direct users to specific services, such as:
Mental Health and Substance Abuse • Suicide Prevention • Bullying
Select the appropriate tab to access the information under that topic. • The resources listed are hyperlinked to call the phone number or connect to the website.
To report about a crime, threat, or suspicious activity from the app’s main dashboard, select the ‘Send a Tip’ tab.
The first screen will briefly explain the process to send a tip.
Cmplete the information fields with a much detail as possible.
In the first informational field, select a category that best describes what it is that is being reported.
The informational fields are tailored toward the activity category that was selected. • Please provide as much information as is possible.
Questions about weapons, drugs, or gangs may be asked. • Again, provide as much specific information as you have.
Next, is the option to send additional information along with your tip; such as videos, photos, screen captures, etc.
Additionally, you can also provide information about any persons involved.
Lastly, you can provide your name and phone number, if you want. • While this is not required, it is encouraged so that the situation can be resolved quickly and accurately. • Once complete, hit the ‘Send’ to transmit the tip.
