  1. Galatians 5:1 It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery

  2. Jesus summarises this moral law of God in 2 ways: 1. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength 2. And you shall love your neighbour as yourself

  3. Justification by Faith 1. I am not guilty 2. His righteousness has been accredited to me 3. It is as if I always obeyed

  4. The offence of the Cross • All you need to do is believe in Jesus and repent of your sins • And then you are fully accepted by God and justified • And flowing out of that love and joy that you have in your position and identity with God, comes a life of obedience to God

  5. Galatians 5:7 You ran well. Who hindered you from obeying the truth. Answer: Legalists - that is what Paul is talking about.

  6. There can be a pendulum in church Licence / free to do whatever you like Legalism The beautiful liberty of being a child of God

  7. 2 Corinthians 11:23-27 Are they servants of Christ? (I am out of my mind to talk like this.) I am more. I have worked much harder, been in prison more frequently, been flogged more severely, and been exposed to death again and again. Five times I received from the Jews the forty lashes minus one. Three times I was beaten with rods, once I was pelted with stones, three times I was shipwrecked, I spent a night and a day in the open sea, I have been constantly on the move. I have been in danger from rivers, in danger from bandits, in danger from my fellow Jews, in danger from Gentiles; in danger in the city, in danger in the country, in danger at sea; and in danger from false believers. I have laboured and toiled and have often gone without sleep; I have known hunger and thirst and have often gone without food; I have been cold and naked.

  8. The Greek word for FLESH is sarx It means: • making decisions according to self; independent from God • it proceeds out of the untouched or unchanged part of us ie. what is not transformed by God

  9. Galatians 5:19-21 The acts of the flesh are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

  10. Galatians 5:21 I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

  11. Galatians 5:21 I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. So what is Paul really saying here? Paul is not saying: that if you find yourself in the works of the flesh, that you have lost your salvation Paul is saying: if your life is characteristic only of the works of the flesh, then maybe there is no Spirit

  12. Step 1 Crucify the flesh Verse 24: those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires

  13. Step 1 Crucify the flesh Verse 24: those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires Step 2 Walk in the Spirit Verse 16: walk in the Spirit and you shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh

  14. Lets live in our FREEDOM But we must not mock God and do whatever we like
