  1. Seismo VO Planning Can Özturan Seismic VO Leader Dept. Of Computer Eng. Boğaziçi University Turkey The SEE-GRID-SCI initiative is co-funded by the European Commission under the FP7 Research Infrastructures contract no. 211338

  2. Summary of Work • Seismic data collection and problems encountered • Development work on applications • Development work on SDS Application Service • Release of upload scripts – Sep.08 • Release of restricted C++ iterators – Dec’08 • Dissemination activities: • EGEE08 (Presentation of Seismology VO) • ICT 2008 (exhibition of posters of all VOs, demo of SDS AS) • VO documentation on wiki

  3. Seismology VO Platform Earthquake and seismic waveform data Earthquake and seismic waveform data Earthquake and seismic waveform data Applications (ELF,FPS,MDSSP-WA,NMMC3D,SDS) Programming tool (SDS data Iterators) Distributed storageand indexing of data on grid using AMGA (by SDSAS upload scripts) Country n Country 2 Country 1 ...

  4. Data Collection and Organization • Data collected (documented on the seismology wiki page) • Earthquake data (stored in AMGA table) • Station data (stored in AMGA + files ) • Seismic waveform data (index stored in AMGA table, data in files)

  5. Data Collection and Organization

  6. Data Collection Status (Kandilli – Turkey) • Responsible/Contact: Mehmet Yılmazer • Earthquake Data (upload complete) • Station Data (114 stations, upload complete) • Seismic Data (mostly complete) • 1.5 TB, 2007-2008 uploaded and currently being registered to LFC • 0.7 TB, 2005-2006 being shipped on hard drive • Notes: • Massive data – upload via the Internet was NOT possible • About 3 million hourly files • LFC registrations were too slow (taking about 2 sec per file)

  7. Data Collection Status (GDDAD – Turkey) • Responsible/Contact:Data will be obtained by Mehmet Yılmazer • Earthquake Data (not obtained) • Station Data (about 200 stations, not obtained) • Seismic Data: (not obtained) • Data in GCF format (sensor vendor format). Will be converted to SAC before being sent to Ulakbim for storage and registration • Notes: • Personnel of GDDAD have no grid usage experience (expecting them to attend Grid and Seismology VO Training)

  8. Data Collection Status (Macedonia) • Responsible/Contact: Boro Jakimovski • Earthquake Data (not obtained) • Station Data (6 stations, not obtained) • Seismic Data: (partially uploaded) • About 116 GB has been reported as being uploaded to storage • But AMGA registrations have not been done yet

  9. Data Collection Status (Moldova) • Responsible/Contact: A. Golubev, V. Sidorenco • Earthquake Data (not uploaded) • Station Data (5 stations, not uploaded) • Seismic Data: ( not uploaded)

  10. Data Collection Status (Albania) • Responsible/Contact: N. Frasheri, Neki Kuka • Earthquake Data (sent by e-mail but missing required fields) • Station Data (13 stations, not obtained) • Seismic Data: ( unkown information/format) • Notes: • Did not use sds scripts to upload data and hence register to AMGA

  11. Data Collection Status (Armenia) • Responsible/Contact: Hrach Astsatryan • Earthquake Data (not uploaded) • Station Data (3 stations, not uploaded) • Seismic Data: ( not uploaded )

  12. Data Collection Status (Rest of the countries)

  13. Applications status as of now

  14. Actions to be taken • Choice of application to be presented at the review • Deadline for upload of data: • Mid Feb09 • Write a program to report inventory of seismic data automatically from AMGA tables • Mid Feb09
