  4. Ace System Due Dates: April 5, 2014 Exports / AES • All electronic export data must be transmitted via ACE • Exports = ACE AES : April 5, 2014

  5. AES System for Exports: • AES moved to ACE April 5, 2014 • Single automated export processing platform • Manifest • Commodity • Licensing • Export control • Export targeting • Post departure filing (Option 4) • Changing from 10 days to 5 days

  6. By May 1, 2015 Mandated use of ACE for all electronic manifest filings. All electronic import manifest data must be transmitted via ACE • Truck, Ocean, Rail • Air – Deployment D – 1/3/2015

By November 1, 2015 • Mandated use of electronic Cargo Release and associated Entry Summary filings – All data associated with release of cargo, including PGA interactions, and their associated entry summaries, must be transmitted via ACE: • Cargo Release = Simplified Entry = CF3461 • Entry Summary = CF7501

  8. By October1, 2016 • Mandated use of ACE for all remaining portions of the CBP cargo process. • Monthly Entry Summary • Liquidation • Protest • Drawback

Ace terminology: • ACE – Automated Commercial Environment • CBP’s new system • ACS – Automated Commercial System • CBP’s old system • ACE will replace ACS • ABI – Automated Broker Interface • The pipeline between broker/self filer and ACS • The pipeline between broker/self filer and ACE • ABI is not going away

Ace terminology: • Agile Development • New method used by CBP • Smaller pieces of functionality more frequently • More flexible • Industry standard • “Single Window” • 47 Federal agencies/ Participating Government Agencies (PGA) • Hundreds of paper based forms • Streamline trade process • ACE will become the “Single Window” • Primary system to report imports and exports • World Customs Organization

Ace Entry Filing: • Simplified Entry • Now electronic “ACE Cargo Release” • Separation of commercial and manifest data • Notification of an issue before arrival • Release before arrival • Single accept/reject message for CBP and PGAs • When • Currently available for Air • Testing Ocean and Rail – FR Vol. 79, No. 22 2/3/2014

Ace Entry Filing: • Document Imaging System (DIS) • Submit document images • by EDI (ABI), e-mail or ACE portal • Submit at time of • manifest, entry, summary, post summary… • Documents • Commercial Invoice & Worksheet • Packing List • PGA Documents • EPA, APHIS, NOAA, FSIS, DCMA, CDC… • And many more

  15. Periodic Monthly Statement, aka PMS: • Pay duties monthly • 15th working date of month following release • If you don’t, your broker will!
