  3. What changes are made to the default Dimension Style Settings on the Template Drawing?

  4. CREATING A NEW DIMENSION STYLE OR MAKING CHANGES TO THE STANDARD DIM. STYLE AS PART OF YOUR TEMPLATE DRAWING IS EASY. Once you have created a NEW Drawing as outlined in The Steps To Create A New Drawing _Presentation You will go back to the Template drawing and update the default Dimension Style following the steps in this presentation The reason that you are making changes to the dimension style is to maintain a classroom standard for all students in Cad. Note that changes made may be altered at ant time as needed..

  5. Open your Template drawing. Remember that many setting changes have been made to the original default settings. These include: LAYERS TEXT STYLES LINETYPES POINTS UNITS LIMITS GRID SNAP OSNAP

  7. The Dimension Style Manager The Dimension Style Manager controls the look of dimensions as they are placed on a drawing. Using the Modify... Pick Box will display a Dialog Box for editing basic settings.

  8. The Text Style you will be using as a standard for most of your drawings will be ROMAND. You will need to add this style to your list of FONTS by using the Text Style….Dialog Box Easily selected either by the FORMAT pull-down menu or by selecting the Text Style… Icon in the Styles Toolbar Either method will open the following Dialog Bog

  10. FIND AND SELECT FONT STYLE ROMAND

  11. SELECT NEW AND NAME NEW TEXT STYLE

  12. CHANGE THE HEIGHT TO .125

  13. TEXT FONT ADDED TO LIST

  14. CAUTION Sometimes errors happen to a font in the list by mistakenly selecting that font name and attaching a different font style to it. It has happen in the past by many students. An example of an error may be selecting the Font Times New Roman and mistakenly attaching a font style Old English to it. This problem sometimes happens to the STANDARD Font. To prevent this from happening simply CLICK the Standard Font and see if the style associated with it is TXT

  16. LETS NOW BEGIN THE PROCESS OF CHANGING THE SETTINGS WITH-IN THE DIMENSION STYLE DIALOG BOX.

  17. SET THE CURRENT LAYER TO DIMENSIONS

  18. SELECT THE DIMENSION STYLE MANAGER DIALOG BOX IN ANY OF (4) WAYS FORMAT (pull-down menu) STYLES TOOL BAR (icon) COMMAND LINE (keyboard entry) SCREEN MENU FORMAT

  26. A BRIEF DEMO ON ADDING DIMENSIONS DIMENSIONING WILL BE EXPLAINED IN LATER PRESENTATIONS

  27. MAKE SURE THAT OSNAP IS ACTIVE BY EITHER SELECTIN THE PICK BOTTON AT THE BOTTOM WITH-IN THE STATUS BAR OR DEPRESSING FUNCTION KEY F3.

  28. SELECT A DIMENSION COMMAND.

  29. MOVE THE CURSOR TO A CORNER OF THE BOX. NOTICE THE OSNAP DISPLAYED . PROCEED TO PICK THE OTHER CORNER.

  30. DRAG THE MOUSE DOWN TO POSITION THE DIMENSION.

  31. We have now completed SETTING UP a Standard Dimensioning Style to be used in class as part of your Template. REVIEW THIS PRESENTATION AND APPLY ITS INSTRUCTIONS TO YOUR OWN TEMPLATE.
