  2. Calculating Elevations !!! 1. Underline if you are trying to find the Highest or Lowest elevation. 2. If you are trying to find the LOWEST elevation, you must SUBTRACT from the elevation provided. If you are trying to find the HIGHEST elevation, you must ADD to the elevation provided

  3. Calculating Elevations Con’t 3. Multiply: - # of contour lines x contour interval 4. If finding Lowest: Subtract answer from the step 3 from Highest elevation provided. If finding Highest: Add answer from the step 3 to Lowest elevation provided. 5. Answer = ELEVATION (always remember to label) *note: # of contour lines= # of spaces

Calculating Contour Intervals • Find the DIFFERENCE between the two elevations provided • Count the number of SPACES between each index contour line • DIVIDE: difference / # of spaces • Answer: CONTOUR INTERVAL * note: DSDC (think of a phrase that will help you remember these letters in this exact order)
