  2. Decision Making Styles • Cognitive- When you measure the pros and cons of about a subject to make a decision • Intuitive- When you take logical things into consideration but they become secondary to your “ gut feeling”

Decision Making Techniques! • Self Assessment- Looking at yourself ; your motivations, values, interests, personalities and skills • Career Exploration- Looking at multiple careers and focusing on a group • Networking- going into the field and meeting people in the field you have interest in ( reality check)

  4. Questions to Ask Yourself ! • What IS a goal ? • What are your goals ? • A Long term goal contains a multiple short ones… • How did you come to your goals ?

  5. What’s Next ! • What stands between you and your goals, what are obstacles that are currently in your life and how can your remove them ? • What are the steps will you need to take to accomplish your goal ? • What do you need to accomplish your goals ( resources)

  6. Making the Commitment • Time to prepare the one year plan • You need multiple small goals to complete a large, you want to divide difficult things into small steps so they can be easier to handle

  7. Resources • Further Training Needed • Economic Needs • Personal Support System • Contacts Needed • Skills Needed • Other Possible Resources • The most important one … YOURSELF

  8. Utilizing Your Resources • Consolidating Resources • Use your resources • Gaining support from your resources • How well are you using your resources ?

  9. Life in general • Dealing with Uncertainty • Anxiety… we ALL have it at some point • Stay positive

  10. Building Self-Esteem • Self-Acceptance • Challenge your irrational beliefs • Allow yourself to chances( risks) • Be yourself • Don’t take yourself too seriously • Give yourself a pat on your back
