Dynamic and static induced EMFs We can produce the EMF by dynamic or static conductors. In the first case the field remains stationary and the conductor by its motion cuts the field and an EMF is produced. This is known as Dynamically induced EMF .( eg: DC Generator) In the second case the conductor remains stationary and the flux linked with the stationary conductor changes by the very nature of the input alternating quantity .This results in an EMF known as “Statically induced EMF” .( eg: Transformer)
Working Principle of DC Generator • A dc Generator working under the principle of Faraday’s Law of Electro Magnetic Induction. • The Direction of induced EMF is given by Fleming’s Right hand rule. • When a group of conductors (armature) rotated within the steady magnetic field (Filed system), an EMF is induced in the coil. This EMF is of alternating in nature and it is rectified by commutator and taken out by the means of carbon brushes.
