  1. Avalanche Colorado Loveland avalanche kills five snowboarders

  2. Snowboarding gone wrong • At Loveland Pass, Colorado, 20 April 2013 5 snowboarders felt the coldness of the snow as they made a horrible disaster for themselves • An avalanche in the US state of Colorado has killed five back-country snowboarders with a sixth surviving, according to officials. • The avalanche occurred between 13:00 (19:00 GMT) and 14:00 in Loveland Pass, near a ski area, and blocked a highway. • The bodies of the victims, who all had avalanche beacons, were recovered by search teams. • A local sheriff said the authorities believed the snowboarders had caused the avalanche themselves.

  3. Science behind an avalanche • Avalanches can be sublimely beautiful but seriously deadly. • They can crush buildings and bury people, some avalanches can cover homes with people in them. • Even movies and news reporters lie when they say they ‘hit without warning’, most time they are activated by loud noise and skiing.

  4. How its made • It starts with a mountain with snow covering it this is called the bed layer then the snowfalls and creates a weak layer that melts and forms ice then more snow falls again and creates another layer called the slab layer then it is triggered by skiers or loud noises creating an avalanche
