  2. Amsterdammers / Antwerpenaren, Politics & Internet 3.0 www.api3.eu Introduction API 3.0: Migrants, Politics & Internet 3.0 The objective of this project: To learn young people from migrant background in the Netherlands and Belgium to effectively use the internet, social media and mobile telecom to influence political processes and politicians in particular.

  3. Amsterdammers / Antwerpenaren, Politics & Internet 3.0 www.api3.eu Summary 2014 was a year of elections in both Belgium and The Netherlands. In this Youth in Action project 8 Belgian and 11 Dutch students with migrant background made their voices heard on political issues of their choice. They used internet, social media and mobile telecom to do so. Migrants (Allochtonen), Politics and the Internet are the core concepts of this project. 3.0 represents the third generation of immigrants and the new internet era: social media and mobile telecom. Since the participation of migrants in the political process is seriously lacking it is important that the new generation make their voices heard in the political debate. In various workshops in Antwerp and Amsterdam the participants have learned how political communication works and how they can join in. They debated about social issues and made a choice which goals to pursue. In this project they have learned and influence the political process. They have done this is several ways using publications, online campaigns and political debates. They operated both individually and in groups.
