Outline of 2010 Population Census • Conducted on 1 October, 2010 • Over 70 million questionnaire forms, which are delivered by enumerators • Introduction of multiple options to submit questionnaire • Sealed envelope, mail back, or internet (Tokyo area) • Improvements of tabulation and dissemination • Improvements of tables for dissemination to cope with social and economic changes • Promotion of ICT-based dissemination

  4. Consultation of Census Data Users • Organizations for consultation of census data users • Ministerial Liaison Meeting • Preparatory National Conference of Supporters (including Preparatory Prefectural Conference of Supporters) • 2010 Population Census User Forum • Statistics Commission

Consultation of Census Users (cont.) • Ministerial Liaison Meeting • Purpose : Monitoring for statistical needs of policy making • Members :staff of governmental entities • Preparatory National Conference of Supporters (Preparatory Prefectural Conference of Supporters) • Purpose : Promulgating importance of census through use of survey results • Members: staff of local public entities, staff of private sectors

Consultation of Census Users (cont.) • 2010 Population Census User Forum • Purpose: Promotion of use of census data through exchange of information about tabulation and analysis • Members : academic experts on demography, staff of private sectors • Statistics Commission • Purpose : deliberations on the plan of the population census based on the Statistics Act • Members: academic experts on statistics, demography, economics etc., staff of private sector
