Digital Data • Dipresentasikandengannilai “0” dan “1” • Pasangan “0” dan “1” disebut binary number (biner) • Banyaknyanilai “0” dan “1” tiapdetikdisebutdengan “bit rate”. • Dalam line/baseband coding dan broadband coding (modulasi), terkadang 1 digit diwakili 1 simbol, tapijugaterkadang 2, 4, 8 bit diwakili 1 simbol. Banyaknyasimbol per detikdisebut “Baud rate”.

  3. Sumber Data Digital • Digitalisasisuara: suara analog, disamplingkemudiandiubahmenjadi data digital: PCM24, PCM30, ADPCM, CELP danvocoderlainnya. • Transducer: alatukur yang mengubahkarakteristikalammenjadi data biner. • Video. • Data.

Line Coding • Line coding atau baseband coding adalahpengkodeannilai “0” dan “1” dalamteganganlistrik. • Dibutuhkan agar simbol “0” dan “1” dapatditransmisikansecaraefectivemelaluikabel. • Representasi “0” dan “1” bervariasi. Karenaperubahanpulsateganganmemilikispektrumfrekuensi, makadibutuhkanrepresentasi yang efektif, agar kecepatan transfer semakintinggi.
