(Packed Cell Volume (PCV The PCV test is used to measure the amount of cells in the blood; blood is made up of cells and plasma. The amount of cells in the blood is expressed as a percentage of the total volume of blood; for example, a PCV measurement of 50% means that there are 50 millilitres of cells per 100 millilitres of blood.
Causes of Abnormal (PCV) • Causes of low PCV : Anemia Vitamin or mineral deficiencies, Liver cirrhosis Bleeding episodes. • Causes of high PVC : Dehydration

Mean Corpuscular Volume (MCV) Mean corpuscular volume (MCV) is the average volume of red cells in a specimen. To calculate the MCV, expressed in femtoliters (fl, or 10-15L), the following formula is used:
Causes of Abnormal (MCV) • Cases of high MCV : liver disease e.g. Cirrhosis . Hypothyroidism . • Causes of low MCV : lead poisoning. Long-lasting kidney failure

Red Blood Cell Count A red blood cell count is a blood test that doctor uses to find out how many red blood cells (RBCs) body have . It’s also known as an erythrocyte count.
Causes of Abnormal RBC Count • Cases of high RBC count : Cigarette smoking Congenital heart disease Dehydration • Causes of low RBC count : Anemia Bone marrow failure Erythropoietin deficiency, Leukemia

Hemoglobin (HB) A hemoglobin test measures the amount of hemoglobin in blood. Hemoglobin is a protein in red blood cells that carries oxygen to body's organs and tissues and transports carbon dioxide from your organs and tissues back to lungs.
Causes of Abnormal (HB) • Cases of high HB : Lung disease Dehydration Living at a high altitude Heavy smoking Burns • Causes of low HB: Iron deficiency Vitamin B-12 deficiency Folate deficiency Bleeding

Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin (MCH) The mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH), or "mean cell hemoglobin" (MCH), is the average mass of hemoglobin per red blood cell in a sample of blood. MCH calculation :
Causes of Abnormal (MCH) • Cases of high MCH : deficiency of B vitamins • Causes of low MCH: Iron deficiency anemia

Mean Corpuscular Hemoglobin Concentration (MCHC) The Mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration, a measure of the concentration of hemoglobin in a given volume of packed red blood cells. MCHC calculation :
Causes of (MCHC) • Cases of high MCHC : Deficiency of Vitamin B12 Deficiency of folic acid • Causes of low MCHC : Iron Deficiency Anemia Pernicious Anemia Hemolytic Anemia Aplastic Anemia
